AI Adoption vs. AI Transformation: What’s Missing?

Modern escalators rising between architectural structures, representing AI transformation and business progress

𝟴𝟴% 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗜. 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝟲% 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝘁.

That’s simply bad execution and it tracks perfectly with my own opinion that has been formed by talking to founders and company leaders on daily basis.

McKinsey’s State of AI 2026 report found that nearly 9 in 10 organisations use AI in at least one business function, yet the share generating real impact has barely moved in a year.

Everyone else is running pilots that never scale, buying tools that sit unused, and calling a ChatGPT subscription and a lot of hope “AI transformation.”

The technology was never the blocker.
→ 80% of employees and leaders say they lack the time or energy to do their work effectively, let alone redesign it around AI
→ Only 1 in 5 organisations offer meaningful AI training to their people
→ Most teams use AI as a faster typewriter and leave the workflow unchanged

The 6% redesign their workflows around AI instead of inserting it into the old ones. They back that with leadership commitment, operational rigour, and a clear line between individual productivity and business impact.

The gap between adoption and results is a leadership problem. Where does your organisation honestly sit? Deploying AI, or transforming with it?
